Feeding Homeless

on heart community page 2Feeding the Homeless

The Homeless Services Network of Central Florida states that 25 % of all children in Central Florida are hungry. These heart stopping numbers are why feeding the homeless and impoverished is one of our primary missions.

What we do about it

Mother Teresa said “Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat.”Our goal is to not just feed the homeless but to give hope and build a sense of community that is all inclusive so those in need know we care.

Hours to Vouchers

We have a system in place where anyone in need can volunteer at our Homebase and earn a One Heart Voucher for the equivalent of $10 per volunteered hour. They can redeem this voucher in our food pantry or to shop at the One Heart Homebase for food, clothes, shoes, and or personal hygiene items.

Food Preparation and Delivery

We assemble and deliver 400 meals to the homeless and the impoverished in our community. We work with local companies and organizations to collect and deliver one weeks’ worth of groceries to 54 Orlando families every week.

The intersection of the 408 overpass and Parramore has become a refuge for the Central Florida homeless community. This is the delivery point for many meals and donations from various organizations throughout Orlando and we have been hand delivering food, clothing and personal hygiene items since we were founded.
